Even more reasons to celebrate the magic of Disney in 2023!
This year, Disney is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Honouring the start of everything we know as part of the Disney Legacy that so many have come to love generation after generation. This extra special celebration is known as ‘Disney 100 Years of Wonder’. After all, who doesn’t love a good story with heroes and villains, happily ever afters and tales as old as time?
Did you know this year sees the 70th anniversary of the lost boy himself who never grew up? That’s right, in 1953, audiences were invited to follow the second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning, and with just a little bit of faith, trust and pixie dust, Peter Pan along with his band of lost boys burst onto the big screen.
So, to celebrate, we’ve got some gorgeous Peter Pan pieces for you to enjoy. First up is the Treasure Strewn Tableau – Peter Pan Flying Figurine from Disney Traditions by Jim Shore. Inspired by the Disney classic, this 3D piece is presented in the form of a treasure chest bearing the mark of Skull Island, with the lid prised wide open to create the scene-scape of the Disney collectable figurine. Across the base, Captain Hook and his first mate Smee are poised in a boat, rowing across a sea of golden coins, shining jewels and Pieces of Eight. The inner lid of the treasure chest provides the background for 3D carvings of Peter Pan in his iconic green outfit and red-feathered hat, flying through the sky with his trusted pixie friend Tinker Bell, as well as the Darling children – Wendy, John and little Michael.

Not sure what a lithophane is? A lithophane is an etched or moulded piece of artwork in very thin translucent porcelain that can be seen clearly only when backlit with a light source. Lithophane pictures have three-dimensional characteristics and change their appearance as the light source angle is changed. Sounds magical, right?
Well, now, thanks to Enchanting Disney, fans of Disney’s Peter Pan can take home scenes from the iconic blockbuster movie, bringing to life some of your favourite characters in a new 3D dimension, like never seen before. The porcelain tea light holder Never Land’s Waiting, is inspired by the scene from Disney’s Peter Pan whereby the boy who didn’t grow up, along with his pixie companion Tinker Bell and the Darling children realise they can fly with just a little bit of faith, trust and pixie dust, as they leave the confines of their nursery and soar across the London skyline as they head off to Never Land. We think it’s simply stunning, and we’re sure you’re going to love Never Land’s Waiting too.
Last up in our celebration of all-things Peter Pan is our adorable Peter Pan and Wendy Darling Figurine by Disney Showcase. Standing at 20.0cm tall and made from cast stone, this collectable Disney figurine captures the moment Peter Pan whisks Wendy off her feet as they take flight towards Never Land. With extra special detailing fit for any milestone celebration, Peter’s green lost boys outfit shimmers and shines with delicate glitter detailing, while the skirt of Wendy’s iconic pale blue nightdress includes star detailing, visually depicting the famous phrase from the movie in the search for Never Land, ‘Second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning’.
What perfect timing for this piece, too! Disney+ has just released a new live-action film inspired by the boy who never grew up, named Peter Pan and Wendy. The trailer dropped just a few weeks ago with much buzz and anticipation around the debut growing, so what better time to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the classic animated movie plus the launch of the new live-action film, with this Peter Pan and Wendy Darling Figurine by Disney Showcase.

That’s right! 2023 sees a decade since the release of Disney’s recording-breaking, box office-smashing animated movie, Frozen.
