Celebrating our furry friends this National Pet Month

Apr 5, 2022

Did you know that April is National Pet Month? That’s right! Next month people up and down the country will be celebrating their life with pets, while spreading awareness about responsible pet ownership, and raising money for their favourite animal charities in fun-filled events.

So, in celebration of National Pet Month, we thought we’d share with you some of our favourite animal-inspired pieces for you to enjoy – whether you have a pet at home or not – these pieces are paw-fect for all animal lovers!

First up with have this adorable Frog Mini Figurine from Heartwood Creek by Jim Shore. With a sweet little smile and perched on his lily pad, this small but perfectly formed piece capturing the craftsmanship of Jim Shore, would be a wonderful way to mark National Pet Month if you have a pond outside in your garden.

Or maybe you have a bunny rabbit lolloping around outside enjoying the springtime sunshine before hibernating away in its hutch on an evening. If you have a four-legged fur baby in your life, then we just love this White Woodland Bunny Garden Statue from Heartwood Creek by Jim Shore. Standing tall at 27.5cm, this piece is paw-fect to proudly display in your garden as a mark of your love between you and your bob-tailed pets.

Pets are often a man’s best friend and are there for us in quiet understated ways when we need them most. Right? If this sentiment resonates with you, then you’re going to want to take a look at this stunning memory box from Willow Tree by artist Susan Lordi – named Quiet Strength. It perfectly sums up the enduring love between a pet and its owner, with the box reading Always there for me written on the inside of the lid. Open to interpretation by each individual, the hand-crafted and hand painted female figure appears to lovingly nuzzle her face into the nose of her horse, sharing a warm yet tender embrace.

Do you have a four-legged friend sharing your home? Whether you’ve a cat or a dog, this collectable piece is sure to be special for you. The Inspired Bell – Paw Prints by Demdaco is a beautifully hand-crafted bell presented with a calming aesthetic and light versatile colour making it puuuuurfect for any cat or dog’s home (and for their owners too!). Featuring two paw imprints embedded into the material of the bell, this piece is a lovely gift for the parents of a fur-baby, or perhaps as a special self-purchase to commemorate your own cat or dog.

And finally, let’s not forget about the pets we wanted as children or the magical mythical animal friends we made in our minds growing up – they certainly deserve a shout out during National Pet Month too!

We just love this wonderfully whimsical Llamacorn with Wings by GUND. Her rainbow horn matches not only her rainbow hooves, but also her rainbow wings and tail. Her super-soft mane makes her great for giving cuddles and is suitable for children aged one year and over. So, while little ones may be too small to enjoy a real-life pet just yet, why not let their imaginations run wild while teaching them the importance of looking after the animals we love, through paw-fect play with soft toys and teddies this National Pet Month and beyond.
